Speaker Peter Gay

PETER GAY is Sterling Professor of History, Emeritus, at Yale University. He was educated at the University of Denver and at Columbia University, where he received his Ph.D. in 1951. He is a member of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and the French Historical Society, and has been a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, the Center of Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, the Institute for Advanced Study – Berlin, and a Guggenheim Fellow, among other honors. He was awarded the Amsterdam Prize for Historical Science from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Gold Medal for History from the American Academy of Arts and Letters
