ERIC ASHBY is a biologist and university administrator and author of works on experimental biology, education, and environmental policy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, past president of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and former chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution. Lord Ashby is former Master of Clare College, University of Cambridge, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Cambridge, and was created a Life Peer in 1973
