Axel Honneth is professor for social philosophy and director of the Institute for Social Research at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-UniversitätFrankfurt/Main. He received his M.A. in philosophy from the Universities at Bonn and Bochum and his Ph.D. from Freie Universität, Berlin. He was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg, Berlin. He has been a visiting lecturer at McGill University, Kyoto University, the New School for Social Research, and the University of Amsterdam.
