Nation and Universe

MICHAEL WALZER received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1961. He has taught at Princeton and Harvard Universities and is currently a a professor in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, NJ). His books include Just and Unjust Wars (1977), Spheres of Justice (1984), Exodus and Revolution (1986), lnterpretation and Social Criticism (1987), and The Compuny of Critics (1988). He is co-editor, with Irving Howe, of Dissent magazine.
