J. G. A. POCOCK holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of New Zealand, a doctorate in philosophy from Cambridge University, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Canterbury. He has been Professor of Political Science at the University of Canterbury, a Professor of History and Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis, and since 1974 a Professor of History at Johns Hopkins University.
