ARTHUR KLEINMAN is Maude and Lillian Presley Professor of Medical Anthropology and Chair of the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also a Professor of Anthropology at Harvard University. He was educated at both Stanford and Harvard, and received his M.D. from Stanford in 1967.
