Roger Fry’s Formalism
MICHAEL FRIED is J. R. Herbert Boone Professor of Humanities and director of the Humanities Center at the Johns Hopkins University. He was educated at Princeton University, awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Merton College, Oxford, and received a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He has been a visiting professor at many institutions, including Northwestern University, the University of Zurich, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Cornell.
