The Trouble with Confucianism
WILLIAM THEODORE DE BARY is the John Mitchell Mason Professor of the University at Columbia University and is an internationally known authority on China, Confucian studies, and East Asian civilizations. Professor de Bary is a former vice president and provost at Columbia University. In 1980 he was appointed the first director of the Heyman Center for Humanities, an intellectual, scholarly center at Columbia dedicated to the study and discussion of contemporary issues in the humanities.
