ROBERT COLES is a Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Humanities at Harvard University. He was educated at that school as well as Columbia University and the University of Chicago. Among his many books are literary as well as scientific explorations of the human mind. His multi-volume Children of Crisis has received a number of awards, including the Ralph Waldo Emerson Award of Phi Beta Kappa, the Weatherford Prize, the Lillian Smith Award, the McAlpin Medal, and the Pulitzer Prize.
