HAROLD BLOOM is Sterling Professor of the Humanities at Yale University and Berg Professor of English at New York University. He was educated at Cornell University, Cambridge University, and Yale University, where he received his Ph.D. He also holds honorary degrees from Boston College, Yeshiva University, and the University of Bologne. A recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, he is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Philosophical Society.
